Abstract |
The article analyzes the modern interpretation of locked torture. As an example, we took a situation that has received the name in the scientific literature – «Bojink's project». The story is connected with the capture of active terrorists in the Philippines who were preparing massive airplane explosions. One of the captured members of the terrorist organization was severely tortured, after which he was handed over to the US authorities, where he was sentenced to life imprisonment. The article examines the concept of "catastrophic terrorism", which allows researchers to raise the question of the balance of values when giving an order to torture terrorists. The point of view of such famous foreign scientists as M. Walzer, M. Ignatieff, A. Dershowitz is presented. It is shown that, given the vulnerability of states and societies to critical infrastructure and many technologies, the problem of the balance of values in the issue of torture of terrorists becomes more and more urgent. |
